Artistic Director: Maria Grazia ChiuriAtmosphere: A savannah at the Invalides and the suspended vault of stars. Cardboard structures of wild animals, tall plants, a baobab tree, and the idea of travel evoking Mr. Dior’s heritage as well as an engraving of 5 continents by Albert Decaris dating from 1953, discovered in the archives.Inspiration: A collection which references women from all over the world in order to celebrate the house’s 70 years.Maria Grazia Chiuri showcases a female explorer, who mixes masculine elements with delicate femininity. To note: The different shades of grey, for a series of skirt-suits inspired by older pieces from the Dior archives. The silhouette is long, accentuated at the waist, incorporating pleats and elegant drapes of fabric.Focus on: The coats in chevron wool worn under muslin dresses, the pleated skirt-culottes, and the coat dress in hounds tooth. All of the evening dresses layered with tulle. The multi-coloured velvet creating a patchwork coat, the embroidered rainbow feathers, the cornflowers adorning a ball gown. Or an evening dress embroidered with gold.+ The colour shading, from the grey to the powder pink.+ The vintage felt hats by Stephen Jones.+ An audience of personalities and all of the Dior muses, sat front-row to celebrate the French house.Interviews: Maria Grazia Chiuri : we are building like a map where the girls go around the world which inspired me to look through the Dior archive to build my personal map, Dior heritage.Céline Dion : It was amazing, it was really, really very beautiful. It was if we were putting on our evening dress and suddenly, we’re leaving a restaurant, and then our husband or our lover puts his coat around us for protection.Natalia Vodianova : She’s bringing a lot of strength to the brand, a lot of different kind of strengths. She can speak to women about messages of empowerment. She can bring this to them in a very authentic way because she’s a woman herself. Sandrine Kiberlain : This sort of romantic, glamorous, femininity; things which dare but are still in keeping with the style of Mr. Dior, I think.Chiara Ferragni: It’s really like feeling like the best version of yourself, looking feminine and sexy, but at the same time very fierce.Robert Pattinson : A kind of history and elegance, and yeah, a lot of different things.Sidney Toledano: She has been deeply influenced by the work of Mr. Dior, his values, which she interprets in her own way but, there’s femininity, elegance, and all the strongest part in haute couture.Music of the show (only to be used in the context of the show, under the protection of the right to information)
